The Heart Behind Peace & Balance

Some spaces aren't built — they're remembered.

This is one of them. From the moment you arrive, something in you recognizes it. The pace slows. The noise quiets. The part of you that has been holding everything begins, finally, to rest.

This is what Peace & Balance was built to be, a sanctuary where the experience of being cared for and the science of true healing are one and the same.

Ancient medicine.
Modern lives.
Real results.

Bridge in nature symbolizing the connection between ancient wisdom and modern healing at Peace & Balance Holistic Center

Why We Exist

There is a moment when a person wakes up inside a life they no longer recognize — and realizes they don't know where to begin.

Sometimes they can name what's wrong. More often they can't. The body feels off. Sleep, energy, focus, the ability to truly rest — something has slipped, and the usual answers don't reach it. Their doctor treats what can be measured. Their therapist tends the mind. Both do real and necessary work. But healing the whole person — body, mind, and spirit together — is its own work. That's the work we do.

You don't have to arrive ready for all of it. Most people come simply wanting to feel better — to sleep, to breathe, to feel like themselves again. That's enough. That's where it begins.

The care we offer is time-tested — rooted in the sister sciences of Ayurveda and yoga, and extending to the many proven practices that serve the whole person. This is real medicine: traditions refined over thousands of years, now confirmed by modern research. The people in our network don't just practice their craft; they live it. We're not here to convert you to one way of doing things — only to help you find what was already inside you.

You don't come here to go back to who you were. You come to meet who you're becoming.

What We Believe

We believe the rhythm of nature is the rhythm of healing. True transformation follows timing, not pressure.

We believe you don't need to be fixed. You need to be seen, supported, and met with care.

We believe healing isn't one size fits all. Your path is your own — and it's worth honoring.

Meet the Founders

Denise – Co-Founder | Ayurvedic Practitioner | Balance Guide

Denise didn't search for Ayurveda. Looking back, every step she took had already laid the path. Twenty-five years in banking and IT leadership — building enterprise systems, leading technology teams, developing channel partnerships, the art of connecting the right people toward a shared purpose — turned out to be the perfect training ground. The same mind that built corporate ecosystems was always moving toward its deeper work: the human being.

When her own body began asking questions that conventional care couldn't answer, she turned inward. That search led her to Ayurveda — a 5,000-year-old system that already mapped everything she had been discovering on her own. She studied under Dr. Vijaya Stallings at Dhanvantari Ayurveda Center and deepened her training with Dr. David Frawley. A yoga and meditation teacher trained through Yoga Alliance and the Kundalini Research Institute, she brings the same precision and depth to the inner life that she once brought to the boardroom.

Today her practice sits at the intersection of Ayurveda, yoga, and the complete human experience — not as separate disciplines, but as one map. Her journey led her to co-found Sattvic Space, a nonprofit wellness center in Hampton Roads, and eventually to Peace & Balance.

She teaches the way she lives — through story, through experience, through presence. Peace & Balance exists because she believes people aren't broken and waiting to be fixed; they're whole, and waiting to be met. Her passion is helping them find their way back to themselves, and forward into who they're becoming.

Sarah – Co-Founder | Yoga Educator | Peace Guide

Since 2008, Sarah Jane has been a healer and guide, helping people find their inner architect and design a life aligned with health and purpose.

Her studies moved across Christian sacraments, Jewish Sefirot, and the lifestyle wisdom of yoga, not out of restlessness but out of recognition that the deepest truths speak the same language. That inquiry became MAP, her Transformational Life Coaching System of Wholeness, developed during her Religious Studies degree and rooted in the Transformational Model of Pastoral Care. Every session with Sarah addresses all dimensions of being, body, mind, heart, and spirit.

A licensed massage therapist and ERYT 500 yoga teacher, Sarah has trained with some of the most respected voices in the field, Dr. David Frawley in Ayurveda and Gary Kraftsow in Viniyoga, alongside thousands of hours in yoga therapy, Thai yoga massage, and anatomy. She established a registered 200 and 300-hour yoga school, co-created AdapAble Yoga, a personalized movement approach featured on 13newsnow.com, and pioneered transformative programs including Managing Authentic Power and The PEACE Paradigm.

Her published work, The PEACE Plan: A Strategic Guide to Surviving Stress, reflects two decades of translating ancient wisdom into tools people can actually use.

At Peace & Balance, Sarah guides people home to peace.

Alfred– Co-Founder | Artist | Warrior Guide

Alfred Alejandro is a Marine veteran, martial artist, Kundalini yoga and meditation teacher, and artist. He brings something to the healing space that is rare, the credibility of someone who has lived what he teaches.

His path has not been without struggle. As a veteran navigating the real and ongoing challenges of combat's aftermath, Alfred doesn't offer a story of arrival. He offers something more honest and more useful, the tools he uses every day, to stay grounded, to keep moving, to remain present in a life that asks a great deal of him.

Through movement, breath, meditation, and the energetic technology of Kundalini yoga, Alfred works with veterans, first responders, and anyone who has carried something heavy and is ready to put some of it down, without pretending the weight was never real.

His art is not separate from his healing work. Murals, painting, and illustration that carry the same intention, evidence that strength and beauty are not opposites. His exhibition series From Within Darkness Comes Light ran for four years, and his environmental work reflects something he understands intuitively: spaces hold energy, and that energy shapes the people who inhabit them.

Alfred leads workshops and community gatherings at Peace & Balance and brings his work into the communities that need it most.

Our Holistic Health Network

Healing the whole person draws on more than one tradition. Around our founders we've gathered a trusted network of practitioners and partners — each vetted, each masterful in their craft, each chosen for the same reason: they live their work, and they meet people with real care.

RESIDENT PRACTITIONER

Ashia Jones

Massage Therapist - 15 years, former LPN, Reiki III, NAMA member

Ashia brings fifteen years of therapeutic massage experience to the Peace & Balance Holistic community, along with a 500-hour yoga teacher training and a bachelor's degree in Ayurvedic integrative health and wellness from Maharishi International University, and Reiki Level 3 certification. A NAMA member and former LPN whose clinical career spanned pediatrics, oncology, ICU, hospice, and beyond, she understands the body not just as tissue and muscle but as a nervous system, a mind, and a whole human being.

Her work is built on partnership. Every session is a conversation between practitioner and client, one that deepens over time and moves toward something more than relief. She is here for your healing journey, not just a single session.

At Peace & Balance Holistic, Ashia offers therapeutic bodywork that moves well beyond the physical — from restorative massage to specialized work in lymphatic drainage, craniosacral therapy, and targeted soft tissue treatment, tailored to each client's healing needs.

The Veteran Wellness Fund

Healing should never be out of reach for those who have served. The Veteran Wellness Fund helps veterans access care at Peace & Balance, regardless of circumstance. It's sustained by our community, our practitioners, and the practice itself — a shared commitment to those who have served.

Gratuities offered in our practice are given to this fund, so that the care you receive helps make care possible for a veteran in need.

Every contribution, large or small, makes that care possible.

Are you a veteran seeking care? We'd be honored to talk with you. Reach out privately at Wellness@PeaceBalanceHolistic.com to learn how the Fund can help.
